| Winster
is a picturesque former lead mining village located in the Peak
District National Park approximately four miles west of Matlock and six miles south of Bakewell. It is one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in the peak
district and was once the centre of the local lead mining industry. The
village still has the feel of a lead mining centre, with rows of old
miners cottages clinging to the hill side, north of the village. |

neighbours Winster still has a post office and well stocked village
shop from which you can pre-order provisions for your holiday. Winster
used to be full of pubs and at one time there were over twenty of them.
However only two remain, the Bowling Green and Miners Standard,
both renowned for their excellent fare and real ales. The post
